In principle, this challenge is easy to participate in – the “challenging” part really comes from our ability to live in gratitude on a daily basis. As with all things in life, when something is important to us and we feel passionate about it, we enjoy doing it and this is no different!
In my opinion, NOTHING is more important than living in gratitude and taking action to help others. Every time we do this, we are receiving that energy back ten-fold and growing from the experience.I know you agree or you wouldn’t be here right now! So, let’s rock this challenge and impact the world!
1) TAKE THE PLEDGE -- See the pledge widget to the right - type your name in and click on "click to commit" that you will live in gratitude for the next 30-days ... hopefully forever
2) EXPRESS YOUR GRATITUDE -- Spend 5 minutes 2x a day focusing on all you are grateful for (upon rising and before bed). If you want to capture your thoughts so you have them for later, enter them in your own gratitude journal at Thankfulfor.com.
3) “PAY IT FORWARD” -- Do something for someone else every day – I often think how different the world would be if we reached out and helped each other. Something as small as opening a door for a stranger, calling someone who needs inspiration, speaking to someone who looks like they could use a friend – maybe step out of your comfort zone a little bit -- it’s not about the size of the gesture, it’s just about doing it every day and being conscious of it. Perhaps even thinking in the morning – is there anyone I know who needs help? The economy is challenging, right? Then why not reach out to a friend or another business and see if there is a way to work together to help each other out?Be creative and have fun – once you start, you probably will find it’s so much fun giving and the more you give of yourself, the more your receive.
4) DOCUMENT & SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE -- Record what happens each day as you live in gratitude and do something kind for someone -- come back here and share your thoughts and experiences as they will certainly inspire others.
There is a variety of ways you can share your thoughts and experiences:
- Come back here often and leave comments under each of the blog entries. You can bookmark the page to make it easier to come back.
- Feel free to send me an email directly at gratitude@vitalself.com – if you have videos or pictures to share on this blog – I’d love to see and post them and include them in daily updates. I'll be looking through the comments for stories to share.
- You can also post to the thankfulfor gratitude journal and keep your friends apprised of your thanks and see it in the "public stream of thanks" here on the blog.
As the poet and musician Gil Scott-Heron said, “no one can do everything but everyone can do something.”
5) SHARE THE CHALLENGE WITH FRIENDS -– the more people who participate, the larger impact we will have! Send the challenge to friend!
Let’s make this a beautiful example of how we can all impact the world one day of gratitude at a time ;-)
